Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and German Minister of State for Europe and Climate Anna Lührmann met in Belgrade on Oct. 24 and discussed the situation in Kosovo and Metohija, continuation of the Belgrade-Pristina dialog, the energy crisis and climate change.
A press release issued by the president's office after the talk reported that the German minister urged Serbia to align with the European Union's foreign policy and visa regime.
Vucic stressed that "Serbia is committed to dialog as the way to solve all open issues, while not jeopardizing its own state and national interests," the press release read.
In a meeting with Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic, Lührmann expressed gratitude for the steps Serbia has taken to align with EU visa policy, but stressed the importance of Belgrade's closer alignment with the shared foreign and security policy, the Serbian government said in a press release.
She said there was room for Serbian-German cooperation to develop further, and stressed the importance of continuing cooperation under the Berlin Process, which she described as significant for the future of all people in this part of the world, especially youth.
Brnabic said commitment to membership in the European Union would be a priority for the new government, adding that the energy challenges facing Serbia and other European countries demanded a new approach and great investment in developing energy infrastructure, especially new sources of green energy.
