A summit for the Western Balkans would be held in Berlin on Nov. 3, within the so-called Berlin Process and at the invitation of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, according to a release from chancellor’s Office.
The summit will be attended by “prime ministers of six Western Balkan countries, the European Commission president, the European Council president, the Balkan Process Summit hosts since 2014, several EU members in the region, and top officials of regional and international organizations,” it is said in the release.
The meeting primarily aims to further intensify cooperation between the Western Balkan countries, according to the release.
The Berlin Process is a format of annual meetings, which the German cabinet of Chancellor Angela Merkel launched in 2014, when Berlin hosted the Conference of Western Balkan states. As part of preparations for the Berlin Process Summit 2022, interior ministers of participating countries met on Oct. 20 and foreign ministers on Oct. 21.
