Serbia - China

Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic said in Belgrade, on Nov. 16, that Serbia wanted to develop and strengthen cooperation with China, a reliable partner, a true friend and one of the most influential political and economic powers today.

In a video address to the 8th China and Central Eastern European Countries (China-CEEC) Think Tank Symposium, Dacic said he was confident the conference would “contribute to comprehensive, successful and useful cooperation within the China-CEEC framework.”

“Since the inception, the China-CEEC mechanism strives to become a comprehensive platform that encourages and complements all aspects of our versatile cooperation. The best indicator of its success is the fact that trade between China and the CEEC countries have grown over the past 10 years by 142.6 percent, totaling $136.2 billion in 2021. It is also important to note a 1.5% increase in CEEC agricultural exports to China,” Dacic said in his speech.

During the address organized by Belgrade’s International Policy and Economy Institute, Minister Dacic said that strengthening infrastructure was one of Serbia’s priorities. “Building roads is one of the requirements of substantial connections between nations, and establishing firm ties in the region and beyond is certainly a vision around which Serbia is building its peacekeeping policy,” the minister said.
