This past November, Serbian households saved seven percent of electricity compared to the same month last year, Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Djedovic said on Dec. 23.

In a statement to public broadcaster RTS, Djedovic said that around 40 percent of households had achieved a 15 to 30 percent discount on their electricity bill.

She added that an agreement had been reached on importing one third of the required quantities of natural gas from Azerbaijan, and that there was an option to import electricity from that country, too, if necessary.

Djedovic said that Azerbaijan had struck a deal with the EU on building an underground power cable under the Black Sea and that Serbia could follow those projects and join them when the time came.
