Serbian EU Integration Minister Tanja Miscevic said on Dec. 23 that Serbia was a very serious partner to the European Union and had demonstrated "important values when it comes to the war in Ukraine and alignment with the common foreign and security policy" of the EU.
She stressed that Serbia's alignment with the EU foreign, security and defense policy was not "just about percentages," or only about imposing sanctions against Russia, but about all of the elements and segments of negotiations in Serbia's bid to join the EU covered in Chapter 31.
Speaking about the conclusions of the EU Council of Ministers, the European Parliament's resolutions, and an annual report of the European Commission and the fact that Serbia would not open any new chapters in accession talks this year, Miscevic said the criticism voiced in the documents had not been severe, but realistic in terms of the need for further alignment.
"Serbia has opened 22 negotiating chapters, which means that it is deep in the process first of all of internal reforms and that it's not just about the number of adopted laws, but what they call a track record, that is to say, the concrete results of enforcing the laws that are now in line with EU regulations," she said.
