Cargo Train with Phosphoric Acid Derails, No Leaks

A cargo train carrying phosphoric acid derailed between Zajecar and Minicevo at around twenty minutes after midnight on Dec. 29, but did not flip over and there is no leakage of toxic materials, the Srbija Kargo company has said.

Srbija Kargo said in a statement that firefighters and police established that no one was hurt. The train consisted of 12 tank cars of which the first after the engine derailed but did not turn over, the statement said.

A joint railroad commission consisting of Infrastrukture Zeleznice Srbije and Srbija Kargo was dispatched to the scene to find out what caused the derailment. Railroad traffic on this part of the railroad was stopped during the day.
