The co-leader of opposition party Together, Nebojsa Zelenovic, has said that the French-German proposal for Kosovo should be up for discussion, adding that aside from the Kosovo issue, a solution should be sought to functioning of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“We should seek an agreement on a common defense policy of the region, which would be aligned with the EU foreign and security policy and we should also request creation of an Economic Community in the Western Balkans, which would cover the territory of all six entities in the region and would establish an area where more than 20 million people could move, receive medical care and education, and do business without restrictions,” Zelenovic told the Feb. 17 issue of Belgrade daily Nova.
He once again said that Serbia should request holding of an international conference on the Western Balkans.
Speaking about Kosovo, Zelenovic said it was necessary to establish an Association/Community of Serb-majority Municipalities. “Serbia should insist on demilitarization of Kosovo. An agreement between Belgrade and Pristina must include a provision prohibiting Kosovo’s unification with Albania without consents of Serbia and the Association/Community of Serb-majority Municipalities,” he stressed.
Zelenovic added that such an agreement would resolve property issues as well as the status of religious and historical monuments which were important for national identity of Serbs.
