Dubravka Djedovic (BETAPHOTO/MINISTRY OF MINING AND ENERGY OF SERBIA/MSEZ)

Serbian Mining and Energy Minister Dubravka Djedovic met in Belgrade on March 8 with representatives of the Saudi Fund for Development and discussed long-term strategies and investments in mining and energy, stated the Ministry.

“Serbia is entering a period of intensive investing into the energy sector, considering that we are in the process of energy transition, in which we will change our energy mix while securing a stable supply,” Djedovic stated. She added that, in the medium run, or the next five years, a series of strategic projects were planned for which investments worth several billion euros were required – primarily in production capacities, but also in strengthening the transmission and distribution network, which will enable a higher capacity for renewable energy sources on the grid.

The Saudi Fund for Development is a government agency of Saudi Arabia, formed in 1974, for financing projects in the fields of transportation, energy, agriculture, water supply and health protection.
