Members of the Foreign Investors' Council (FIC) management in Serbia and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development's (EBRD) board of directors discussed a potential lack of labor in Serbia, a March 9 statement says.

The EBRD, as an institutional member of FIC's managing board has, the statement says, an important role in creating a predictable, stable and sustainable business and investment ambient in Serbia. The focus of the talks was among other things the need to improve labor legislation, as well as the question of Serbia's energy dependence and the significance of stability in the energy system for business and investment activities in Serbia.

The subject of the talks was the importance of continuing reforms along with the essential corporatization of public companies. The participants of the meeting also devoted special attention to analyzing the health system, the significance of digitalization in the health system [e-health], but also the question of supplying the market with [innovative] medicine, the perspective for developing regenerative agriculture and its importance for producing food.

"We want to continue working with FIC and its members on creating even better conditions for foreign investors and attracting them to invest in Serbia. The EBRD, as the largest institutional investor in Serbia, has offered great support to the government for the purpose of improving the business ambient, from reforming public companies to digitalization and advancing the work of inspection services," EBRD director for Sweden, Iceland and Estonia Eva Cassel said.
