Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti met in Strasbourg, on March 15, with the European People’s Party (EPP) deputies to discuss Kosovo’s move to join the European Union (EU) and the Council of Europe (CoE).
The Government of Kosovo said in a press release that the prime minister had underlined the importance of support by the European Parliament (EP) in expediting Kosovo’s accession and applications. The expectations and potentials surrounding the next meeting with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic in Ohrid, on March 18, were also discussed during Kurti’s meeting with the members of the EPP Group in the European Parliament.
The MEPs were positive about reforms pursued by the Government of Kosovo, democratic progress, the rule of law and fight against corruption in Kosovo, fully supporting the processes, the cabinet went on to say in the release. Kurti’s meeting with the deputies of the largest and oldest group in the European Parliament was the beginning of his two-day visit to Strasbourg.
“Prime Minister Kurti, together with Kosovo’s ambassador to Brussels, Agron Bajrami, briefed the MEPs on the latest developments in Kosovo, major achievements by his cabinet, celebrating its 2nd anniversary next week, the successes it has made in developing the rule of law and fighting corruption, as well as improvements in democratic and economic indicators, supported by international reports,” the Government of Kosovo said in the release. Kurti has visited Strasbourg to take part in the 10th meeting of the EU-Kosovo Stabilization and Association Parliamentary Committee.
