The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has earmarked EUR100 million for Banca Intesa, member of the Intesa Sanpaolo Group, with the aim of continuing their joint support to the development of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Serbia, it was announced on March 30.

Within the financial package, the EBRD, which has fully harmonized its activities with the Paris Agreement, has committed to increase the level of green placements by investing at least 10 percent of the amount from this credit line into projects that conform to the green transition approach.

“Banca Intesa Beograd and EBRD have had very successful results in supporting SMEs in Serbia. Today, with great pleasure, we are joining forces once again to improve the competitiveness and secure long-term growth of local enterprises, through the placement of 100 million euros,” stated the EBRD’s director for financial institutions for the Western Balkan region and East Europe, Aleksandra Vukosavljevic.

The chairman of Banca Intesa’s Executive Board, Darko Popovic, stated that, thanks to funds from the new credit line, the bank would be able to offer more favorable borrowing conditions.
