Montenegrin presidential candidate Milo Djukanovic has won 39.2 percent of elections, while Jakov Milatovic took 60.8 percent, according to preliminary results based on 31.2 percent of a sample processed on April 2, the Center for Monitoring and Research's data shows.
The processed data is from smaller polling stations, it noted. The turnout was 70.7 percent, or around 383,300 citizens.
The first round took place 15 days ago, but none of the seven candidates won more than half of the vote, which is needed to win. Djukanovic, with 35.4 percent of votes, and Milatovic, with 28.9 percent, made it into the runoff.
This is the fourth presidential election since Montenegro's renewed independence and the eighth since the introduction of a multi-party system. The candidate who wins more than half of ballots in the vote will become president. The president of Montenegro is elected for a term of five years.
