Miroslav Lajcak, the EU’s special envoy for the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue, announced on April 4 that he met with Derek Chollet, the U.S. State Department’s special counselor, and discussed Lajcak’s latest meeting with Belgrade’s and Pristina’s head negotiators.

According to Lajcak’s late-night tweet, the two officials agreed that what the dialogue needs is the urgent implementation of agreements so far reached between the two sides.

“Good to discuss the latest developments in the Western Balkans with @CounselorDOS [Derek Chollet] in Brussels,” Lajcak wrote above a photo of their meeting, and added, “I updated him on the Dialogue and today’s Chief negotiators’ meeting. We agreed on the need for immediate implementation in good faith.”

In the latest round of talks between Serbia proper and Kosovo, head negotiators for Belgrade and Pristina, Petar Petkovic and Besnik Bislimi respectively, met with Lajcak in Brussels on April 4.
