The largest solar power plant in Serbia, with the rated output of 9.9 megawatts, was put in operation on April 5, and it will produce 15,000 megawatt-hours of electricity per year, which is sufficient for around 2,100 households.
The DeLsol power plant, constructed by the MT-KOMEX company, is located in the Lapovo municipality. It covers the area of 12.5 hectares and uses bi-facial solar panels that collect sunlight on both sides, thus producing more electricity, stated the Serbian Mining and Energy Ministry.
Minister Dubravka Djedovic stated at the opening ceremony that the plant was an example of how using solar power can improve the security of electricity supply and protect the environment at the same time.
She pointed out that it was the task of the state to secure conditions for building new renewable energy power plants, and that the energy system maintains a stable supply of electricity for the population and commerce.
