Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic met in Belgrade on April 6 with Senator Steven Daines of the U.S. Senate’s Committee for Energy and Natural Resources, whom he informed about current trends in the region and stressed that Serbia was promoting a positive agenda of cooperation in the Western Balkans, as the precondition for peace and stability.

According to the statement of the Serbian president’s office, Vucic pointed out during the meeting that Serbia viewed relations and cooperation with the U.S. as a matter of utmost importance. He stated that U.S.’ investments were greatly contributing to the progress of Serbia’s economy and that he hoped more U.S. investors would come to Serbia.

The president and the senator discussed various current global issues, including energy security, the statement reads.

Prior to that, Vucic posted his photo with Senator Daines on Instagram, stating that “he is also from Belgrade, but the one in Montana, named after the Serbs who have built the railroad and the rail station there.” “We had a good conversation about all important issues,” Vucic wrote in the post.
