The United States welcomes Serbia’s decision to host the Platinum Wolf exercise with its global peacekeeping partners, Radio Free Europe was told at the U.S. embassy in Belgrade on April 7.

In a comment on Serbia’s decision to host said tactical exercise with the armies of NATO states in mid-June, which would include the U.S. army, the U.S. embassy said that Washington “appreciates the military partnership with Serbia” and “highly esteems the Serbian army and its leadership.”

Serbian Defense Minister Milos Vucevic said recently that the Platinum Wolf joint military exercise would take place in mid-June and that it would involve the U.S., Serbian troops and the armies of 10 partner states. By deciding to host the peacekeeping exercise, Serbia has made an exception from its moratorium on participation in exercises with foreign partners, introduced in September 2020.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on April 6 that Moscow would “monitor carefully” the military exercise that Serbia was going to hold in its territory with NATO.
