On the last day of his tour of Central Asian countries, Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic met with top Tajikistani officials in Dusanbe on April 8.
Dacic described his stay in Central Asia as historic as it was the first official visit of a Serbian foreign minister to the region, which he said has been "neglected" by his country.
"The visit to Tajikistan was of exceptional importance, bearing in mind, like I said during my visit to Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, that Serbia has neglected the Central Asian region, which is very important, which has five very friendly and traditionally close countries to us, which are on our side when it comes to preserving our territorial integrity and sovereignty," the Serbian foreign minister said.
"It is especially important to nurture ties with those of our friends with whom we don't have developed cooperation and to develop that cooperation. We have strengthened our foreign policy position when it comes to Kosovo. None of those countries will recognize Kosovo and will remain supportive of Serbia's principled stand," added Dacic, who visited Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan in addition to Tajikistan during his Central Asian tour.
