The ruling of a court of first instance in Pristina, sentencing three Serbs to several years in prison, is politically motivated as there was no relevant evidence to support the charges, according to a statement issued by the Serbian Justice Ministry on July 29.
“This decision was not made to serve justice, but rather represents political revenge and ethnic intimidation of Serbs, with the clear intention of making their survival in Kosovo and Metohija impossible. Serbia will not allow for such illegal and discriminatory actions to be normalized,” it is said in the statement.
The Basic Court in Pristina, a court of first instance, sentenced Milun Milenkovic and Aleksandar Vlajic to five years in prison each for “terrorism,” and Dejan Pantic to a two-year jail term for “hooliganism”. All three were charged with taking part in riots in Kosovo in December 2022.
