On the occasion of Europe Day, May 9, the EU representatives unveiled a heart-shaped flower installation featuring the colors of the Serbian and the EU flags at the Kalemegdan Park in Belgrade.
The flower installation was unveiled next to the monument of The Victor in attendance of EU Integration Minister Tanja Miscevic, EU Delegation to Serbia Head Emanuele Giaufret and representatives of the embassies of the EU member countries.
Giaufret said that in the light of the recent tragic events, this year’s Europe Day would be marked without traditional events and campaigns. He said that the EU wanted Serbia to pursue its EU path, noting that all EU members unanimously backed Serbia’s full-fledged membership in the EU. “Serbia’s belongs to the EU,” Giaufret stressed.

Miscevic thanked the EU on its support, which, she said, was visible also on this occasion, stressing that Serbia and the EU were bonded by unbreakable friendship and serious cooperation. Annika Ben David, the ambassador of Sweden, currently presiding over the EU, stressed that the EU member countries were eagerly awaiting Serbia to join them.
EU representatives brought a large number of flowering plants to the Kalemegdan Park to give them to citizens as a gesture of solidarity and friendship with the Serbian people.
