The co-president of the Together party, Nebojsa Zelenovic, stated on May 17 that the opposition that had organized the “Serbia Against Violence” protest was not afraid of elections and was always in favor of a democratic vote, but that it was necessary to first discuss the responsibility for the violence in the society.
“I would not speak about elections at all at this time, none of us is even thinking about it, but generally, we can talk about whether we are afraid of elections or not. Naturally, we are always in favor of elections, but this is not the moment,” stated Zelenovic, who was present in the building of the Serbian Broadcasting Corporation (RTS) together with other organizers of the protest, requesting to discuss reporting, but its director Dragan Bujosevic refused to receive them.
Zelenovic stated: “Let us face the responsibility, talk about the consequences and causes, and then it will be time for elections.” The representatives of the authorities have stated that the opposition had called for early elections, but began avoiding the subject after hearing that elections could indeed be held.
