According to the preliminary results of Montenegro’s snap parliamentary election – based on 99 percent of ballots cast – the most votes were won by the Europe Now! Movement, closely followed by the coalition surrounding the Democratic Party of Socialists, the Center for Monitoring and Research (CEMI) announced late in the evening of June 11.
Led by former finance minister Milojko Spajic, Europe Now garnered 25.6 percent of votes, which, according to the CEMI, translates to 23 mandates.
The Together coalition, surrounding the Democratic Party of Socialists and led by that party’s interim president, Danijel Zivkovic, was supported by 23.8 percent of voters and will have 21 seats in the Parliament of Montenegro.
With 14.8 percent of votes, the For the Future of Montenegro coalition placed third and will have 13 representatives in the assembly, while the political alliance between outgoing Prime Minister Dritan Abazovic’s United Reform Action and Aleksa Becic’s Democratic Montenegro secured 12.3 percent of votes, i.e. 11 mandates.
According to the CEMI, the union between the Socialist People’s Party of Montenegro and DEMOS also passed the threshold with 3.3 percent of votes, i.e. three mandates.
Four minority tickets have also won seats in the assembly, namely the Bosniak Party (6.9 percent of votes, i.e. six mandates), the Albanian Forum, (2.0 percent of votes, two mandates), the Albanian Alliance (1.4 percent of ballots, one mandate) and the Croatian Civic Initiative (0.6 percent, one mandate).
Voter turnout was 56.4 percent.
