Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has again called on the opposition members to talks, noting that at the table they could see fulfillment of some of their demands voiced at the protests titled Serbia against Violence.
“When the people do not want to see them in power, it is more comfortable for them to come to the table and I am inviting them for talks. They may negotiate fulfilment of some their demands, and without talks, they have already achieved much – two demands,” Vucic told TV Happy in the evening on June 12.
He noted that the opposition members had been refusing everything they had been offered, because they knew that “the people do not want” to see them in power.
“They do not want the government’s resignation, because it would mean snap elections. They do not want anything, because they are well aware of their approval ratings,” Vucic stressed.
Commenting on one of the protesters’ demands seeking dismissal of Interior Minister Bratislav Gasica, Vucic reiterated that it would not happen.
“Who they have been protesting against? Bratislav Gasic? So, not against me, but against Bratislav Gasic. Well, it won’t work. Vucic can resign, but not Bratislav Gasic. Anything can be granted, but what the opposition wants, because this is not a wishing well to let them play with the state,” Vucic stressed.
