Slovenian President Natasa Pirc Musar stated on June 16, after a meeting with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic in Belgrade, that she did not want to see conflicts in the western Balkan region, that both sides were needed for calming the situation and that Kosovo had to fulfill its part of the obligations.

Musar, who paid a working visit to Serbia, stated at the joint news conference with Vucic that, as a jurist, she called for honoring the law, that she wished to see the implementation of the Community of Serb Municipalities in the way agreed on in 2013, and that she saw no reason for its delaying.

“Vucic and I concurred that talks with Pristina should continue, that tempers should be calmed and that nobody in the area wanted new provocations. The relation between Belgrade and Pristina is important for the entire Western Balkan region and it will show how mature we are together, both us and Brussels, to calm the situation,” Musar said.

She said that dialogue was the only right way to a solution because both sides are needed for tensions to be reduced, but also that “Kosovo has to do its part of the work.” Musar also commented on the protests that are held in Belgrade each week, saying that this was a legitimate activity in every state and a part of democracy, and that media reports were a part of freedom of expression, which should be worked at, though.
