Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani said she hoped the current disputes between Kosovo on the one hand, and the European Union (EU) and the U.S. on the other, would soon be overcome.

The Deutsche Welle (DW) portal reported on June 17 that during her meeting with political correspondents in Berlin the president said that it was time to find durable solutions. “I do not think that differences can be avoided by attacking each other via the media, but by sitting down and talking,” she said.

Osmani said that the details were yet to be worked out with regard to holding elections in four municipalities in the north of Kosovo and withdrawing police from municipal buildings, which were the Quint's two requests. The Kosovo president said it was important to ensure that Serbs take part in the new elections.

Osmani criticized Kosovo’s allies that failed to react to Serbia’s breaches of the commitments that it had accepted. The president visited Berlin at the invitation of German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, and will attend the opening of the Special Olympics World Games Berlin 2003, from June 17 to June 26.
