The citizens of Leposavic expressed their outrage over recent violent arrests of northern Kosovo Serbs by the Kosovo Police in a peaceful protest in front of the Leposavic municipal building.
The protesting citizens carried banners that read, in Serbian and English: "This is our country," "Stop Kurti's violence," "Don't beat our children," "Serbs want peace," "Stop institutional violence," etc.
They demanded the release of Dalibor Spasic, a health care worker who was arrested at the Jarinje administrative line crossing on June 16, and of Nemanja Vlaskovic, arrested in Leposavic on June 15. The protesters also want the release of Dusan Obrenovic and Rados Petrovic, who were taken into custody in Zvecan on May 29, and of Milun Milenkovic, arrested in Mitrovica North.
Several thousand citizens, headed by health care workers, held a protest march from Mitrovica North to Zvecan.
According to local media outlets, the Serbs marched carrying Serbian flags and signs with the photographs of the arrestees and messages calling for a cessation to the violence against Serbs.
