Vladimir Gajic, a People’s Party MP, said on June 28 that Serbia should never recognize Kosovo’s self-proclaimed independence or allow to be “transformed into a mine pit,” much less introduce sanctions against Russia, because the move would make a new enemy out of a great ally.

“Serbia must draw the red lines that must not be crossed at any cost. Yet the only thing Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic is doing is making concessions. He has never gotten anything in return, hence the personal responsibility. On the other hand, Albin Kurti’s ultimate goal is to unite Kosovo and Albania, and he is prepared to escalate the situation until the Serbs were forced to leave Kosovo and Metohija,” Gajic said in an interview for the local KTV broadcaster in Zrenjanin.

Gajic said described a decision to sign the Brussels agreement as “high treason.” “Boris Tadic and Vuk Jeremic had refused to sign such a document, which was probably why had to step down. The West helped Tomislav Nikolic and Aleksandar Vucic to come to power, and signing the Brussels agreement was the result,” Gajic explained.

The opposition MP said that the Vucic regime could not be defeated unless the left wing and the right wing, or rather, the civic and nationalist parties at the two opposite ends of the political spectrum, decided to work together. “The entire opposition won around 1.2 million votes in the last election, whereas 2.2 million went to Vucic, almost twice as many. Some of their voters should come to us, and the opposition must find the way,” Gajic said.
