Kosovo Premier Albin Kurti assessed on June 29 that official Pristina was „neither angry, nor critical“ of the punitive measures introduced against Kosovo by the EU, stressing that Kosovo was „the most honest and most stable partner in the region.“
Speaking at the session of the Kosovo government, Kurti recollected that, in certain cases, Kosovo was critical of the EU, but never „cynical or bitter.“
„Despite the circumstances, we appreciate the support and assistance the European Union provided during all these years and we are looking forward to the membership questionnaire, because Europe is our continent. The European Union is our destiny,“ Kurti stated.
Tension has been increased in the north of Kosovo since the end of May, when the Kosovo authorities decided to let the police enforce the newly elected Albanian mayors’ entry into the municipal offices in Zubin Potok, Zvecan and Leposavic. This was fiercely opposed by the local Serb majority, who have boycotted the local elections and do not accept their results.
