In the afternoon hours of June 30, parts of Highway E-75 in Belgrade and Novi Sad will be blocked by protesters, members of the opposition supporting the ‘Serbia Against Violence’ rallies have announced.
In Belgrade, deliberately slow-moving vehicles will head out from the toll stations in Simanovci, moving east, and Bubanj Potok, moving west, eventually converging at the Sava Center in New Belgrade, where they will completely block traffic on the freeway until 8 p.m, said co-president of the Together party Nebojsa Zelenovic.
The capital’s next ‘Serbia Against Violence’ rally has been scheduled for July 1. The gathering point is the Serbian National Assembly downtown, from which demonstrators will march to the Pink TV building in Dedinje to protest the television’s newest announced reality show.
Calls to attend the rally have been issued by a mix of opposition parties and parliamentary groups comprising United, the People’s Party, the Democratic Party, Together, and the Green-Left Club, Don’t Let Belgrade D(r)own, We Must group – but they have reiterated multiple times that the protests are not political.
