The movement Don’t Let Belgrade Drown submitted on July 17 11000 signatures to the Ministry of State Administration and Local Self-Government to transform the movement into a political party, Green – Left Front.
The movement’s MP, Radomir Lazovic, said that the signatures had been collected in less than a month in 33 cities and municipalities across Serbia.
“It has been an extensive operation to transform the movement Don’t Let Belgrade Drown into a party, expected to spread its activities across Serbia and outgrow the status of the movement we had, configuring the organization further. An inaugural assembly has taken place recently, and the statute, programme and other documents important for the work of the organization have been enacted,” Lazovic said to reporters outside the Ministry.
His peer at the Parliament of Serbia, Biljana Djordjevic, added that the collection of signatures for the new party involved not only the movement’s new chapters in Serbia, but also partner organizations – the Initiative for Pozega, the Choice for Our Municipality, the Critical Mass Kula, the Local Front Valjevo and the Initiative for Lajkovac.
