On Dec. 28, student protesters began collecting signatures for early parliamentary elections, which citizens can sign at over 400 stands in more than 100 cities and municipalities across Serbia.
The student protest website (studenti.org.rs/raspisi) contains a detailed list of places in Serbia where the stands for the Call Victory drive will be and when they will be there - mostly in the morning hours.
"Come so we can call victory together! Sign the decision! Be a monitor. Take part in raising awareness in your area. As of Sunday we go on together," the students said in a post on the website. According to the students, the citizens who sign the decision on calling elections become part of "a broad front in the fight for justice and changing the system."
The students conducted a canvassing campaign over the past two weeks, after which the students occupying the School of Electrical Engineering said that nine out of ten citizens whom they spoke with supported the demand for an early parliamentary election. Since May, student protests across the country have been demanding early parliamentary elections. Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has announced elections for 2026, but said that it remained to be determined whether they would be held in May or December.
