After meeting his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Athens on Aug. 22, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said that Belgrade respected Ukraine’s territorial integrity and that it had been saying this unequivocally and clearly since the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine.
Vucic told Serbian reporters in Athens that the talks with Zelenskyy were “good and open” on all the issues important for Serbia and Ukraine, and also for the region and the world.
The meeting also touched on the situation in Kosovo, Vucic noted.
Speaking about the political situation in Serbia, Vucic said that “elections will be held shortly,” but stressed that the opposition would not be deciding whether general or local elections would be held.
“Unlike them, I never underestimate my opponents. There are no easy matches for us, such matches exist only for those who lose them on a regular basis and always blame their loss on someone else. They blame it on the media or this or that. They blame it on everyone else, but themselves,” Vucic said commenting on the opposition’s request that elections no be held simultaneously at all levels and their complaint about their unfavorable treatment by the media.
