Vucic at Voice of Global South Summit: International Law Needs to Apply Unselectively to All U.N. Members

Serbia believes that the Charter of the United Nations and international law should be respected by all, and applied unselectively to all members of the United Nations, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Nov. 17, during the 2nd Voice of Global South Summit.

During the online conference held during India’s presidency over the Group of 20 leading economies, Vucic said that Serbia “respects international law consistently, and is still suffering the consequences of violations thereof,” the Office of the President of Serbia quoted Vucic as saying during the Summit.

“It is precisely Serbia’s painful experience that makes it possible for us to understand, perhaps even better than others, the problems and obstacles that developing states are still facing,” Vucic said.

Vucic thanked India for the opportunity to take part in the Summit that brought together 125 states, the Office of the President went on to say in a press release, adding that the Serbian president was the only European guest at the session of heads of state. He said that challenges aside, Serbia “is trying to look to the future, and use every chance of making economic and social progress for the benefit of the Serbian people,” the Office quoted Vucic as saying.
