Incumbent Defense Minister Milos Vucevic, who is also the head of the Serbian Progressive Party, said on Feb. 1 that the legal deadline for forming Serbia’s new Cabinet is 90 days from the National Assembly’s constitutive session – which has been scheduled for Feb. 6 – but added his expectation that the elections of new ministers will be concluded well before the assigned time limit.

Vucevic, whose party won the absolute majority of seats in the Dec. 17 general elections, told the RTS public service that “there are indications” that the country will have its new Cabinet “within a month and a half, two at most.”

Asked whether the Progressives plan on including any other parties in Serbia’s top executive body, Vucevic stated that they are primarily interested in collaborating with the Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians.

He added that his party will also hold talks with Bosniak parties and the Socialist Party of Serbia. “I’m not dismissing the possibility of negotiations with other tickets as well. It’s good to have an inclusive Cabinet,” the minister concluded.
