According to Predrag Markovic, a member of the Socialist Party of Serbia’s top management, one of the country’s six deputy prime ministers should be a member of the opposition so as to “balance out the [Serbian National] Assembly’s operation.”
Speaking for Prva TV, the Socialist expressed his expectation that Ana Brnabic will be elected as parliament speaker during the March 18 continuation of the Assembly’s constitutive session, adding that such matters are “regular administrative activities,” which will not be affected by “the opposition’s belligerence.”
Asked about his expectations for the new Cabinet, Markovic stated that the Socialists remain “firm allies” of the ruling Serbian Progressive Party and added that there is a chance that some ministerial seats may be filled by persons with no party affiliation.
