On Apr. 9 the European Commission called on the Serb List to reconsider its decision to boycott a vote for dismissing the mayors of Kosovo's four majority Serb municipalities in the north, which will be held on Apr. 21.

"The EC regrets this, and notes the concern of Kosovo Serbs over the way the procedure for organizing new local elections is being led," EC spokeswoman Nabila Massrali has said. Massrali also said that democracy served to be participated in and for the Kosovo Serbs to express their rights and political choices via ballot boxes.

She underlined that the EU stressed again that the municipal elections were decisive, and that all voters needed to participate, without any conditions in all four municipalities to ensure complete representation in the four municipalities in the north and lower tensions. On Apr. 7 the Serb List said that it would not participate in votes for dismissing the Albanian mayors of Severna Mitrovica, Zvecan, Leposavic and Zubin Potoko.

The Kosovo Central Electoral Commission called on Apr. 9 on the Serb List and Civic Initiative for Freedom, Just and Survival, a party led by Minister of Communities and Returns Nenad Rasic, to hand in the names of the new members of electoral committees in the municipalities in the north of Kosovo.
