A second aircraft carrying humanitarian aid from Serbia to the population of Gaza landed in Egypt on May 11, and Serbian Ambassador to Cairo Miroslav Sestovic was there to meet it, the Serbian Foreign Ministry announced on the X social media platform.
Serbian Minister of Internal and Foreign Trade Tomislav Momirovic was present to see the plane off on behalf of the Serbian government at the Nikola Tesla Airport in Belgrade early on May 11. On May 10, the Serbian government passed a Conclusion on sending humanitarian aid in goods to the state of Palestine for the population threatened by the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.
The humanitarian aid includes food, water, medical equipment and tents for families, and its value totals some three million euros, while it weighs around 900 tons, the government said in an announcement on May 11. An airplane with 52 tons of humanitarian aid was sent to the Gaza Strip on May 10.
Ambassador Sestovic told the Serbian Broadcasting Corporation that he did not know when the aid would be delivered to the residents of the Gaza Strip, as the Egyptian border crossing Rafah was closed after it was taken by the Israeli military. He also said some 7,000 trucks were waiting in North Sinai to deliver aid to the Gaza Strip.
