The director of the Srebrenica Memorial Center, Emir Suljagic, stated on May 22 that conditions for a visit of Republika Srpska (RS) officials to the Memorial Center in Potocare could not be secured, bearing in mind the stance and policies of the RS government regarding the genocide against the Bosniaks in Srebrenica.

“If the president and representatives of RS government insist on paying respects to the victims from the 1992-1995 period, they can do that on the way to Srebrenica or, particularly in Srebrenica, they can lay flowers at the playground in front of the elementary school where, in April 1993, 74 Bosniaks from Srebrenica and the Podrinje area were killed and more than one hundred wounded in an artillery attack of the Army of RS,” Suljagic wrote in a post on X.

RS President Milorad Dodik has announced that a session of the RS government would be held in Srebrenica on May 24, the day of the vote on the Srebrenica resolution in the U.N. General Assembly. He has also announced that, on that occasion, wreaths and flowers would be laid in Bratunac for the Serb victims of the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the upper Podrinje area, and asked the Srebrenica Memorial Center to allow the laying of wreaths for the Srebrenica victims buried in the Memorial Center in Potocare.
