Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Aug. 11 that the authorities were prepared to meet all of the opposition's requests regarding elections, but that opposition leaders did not suggest anything at a round table.
Vucic said at a press conference that the opposition leaders attended the round-table talks only to address the press.
"Two themes were supposed to be discussed at the round-table meetings - electoral rolls and campaign financing. Here's the thing. Whatever you want us to do, we will do. We'll accept 99 percent of your proposals, and even 100 percent of those related to electoral rolls. Everything they ask for, we will accept... No problem, you'll get that, too, but you are in for a catastrophic defeat because the people are concerned about their future, not yours," Vucic said.
The president also said he didn't want to be an editor-in-chief, and that it was all right with him for the opposition to have its own media outlets.
"People will not be watching that too much, let me tell you. They know who works and builds things, and who doesn't," said the president.
Vucic said on Aug. 9 that election conditions were ten times better than under the previous government, but that he would do everything the opposition believed to improve them even more.
