U.S. special representative for the West Balkans Matthew Palmer said in Podgorica on Sept. 9 that the U.S. was again focusing on the West Balkans.
According to a press release issued by the government of Montenegro, Palmer told Montenegrin Prime Minister Dusko Markovic that Montenegro was a leader and the most successful multi-ethnic state in the region.
According to the press release, Palmer and Markovic agreed that the Euro-Atlantic integration of the West Balkans was in the interest of the region and Europe.
"This means that the process of (EU) enlargement must stay alive. It's in the interest of both the EU and the states in our region," the Montenegrin PM said.
Markovic said the government of Montenegro was committed to the success of the dialog on the forthcoming election in order to reach a deal on the electoral process that would be recognized by all participants.
