President Aleksandar Vucic has called on the Kosovo Serbs to vote in large numbers for the Serb List in the Oct. 6 snap elections, explaining that it is the only Serb political party in Kosovo that works together with Belgrade and "Serbia proper.”

Vucic has told public broadcaster RTS that a ballot cast for the Serb List “is the only way to stay connected,” while a vote for any other option will mean “severing connections” and disabling the support from Belgrade.

“The Serbs can vote for whomever they wish, but I am asking them to choose the Serb List as it is the only party working together with Belgrade. Go to the polls in large numbers so that we could vote for our survival in our homes, for Belgrade-paid salaries in schools, hospitals… It will all be abolished unless the voice the Serb List is heard,” Vucic specified.

Asked whether he would try to engage in the election campaign in Kosovo in the coming days, he replied that due to a number of scheduled meetings with foreign officials and a trip to the Czech Republic, he would not have the time, noting that his visit could put the local Serbs in danger.

Vucic said he would invite the Serb List candidates to come to Belgrade to symbolically show that it was their capital city.
