Anti-Corruption Agency Director Dragan Sikimic claims there is no basis for launching proceedings against Minister of Finance Sinisa Mali, despite the fact that the minister's brother was given an apartment and car to use by the Milenijum Tim private company, which had landed valuable jobs in Belgrade while Mali was the city’s mayor, KRIK portal has reported.

This conclusion is part of a “notice on the outcome of the complaint against Sinisa Mali” sent to KRIK by the Anti-Corruption Agency.

KRIK journalists had asked the Agency whether it would undertake any measures concerning the uncovered corruption ties between Sinisa Mali and Milenijum Tim company, the report said.

At the time when Mali was still the mayor of Belgrade, KRIK journalists wrote about

Milenijum Tim and its partners, which had landed projects in the capital city worth at least EUR15 million. It was at this time the company began working on the Belgrade Waterfront, one of the most well-known construction projects in the country.

"The Agency’s reply, however, says they had looked into the period when Mali was minister of finance, i.e. only the last year. They didn’t deal with what he had done while Belgrade’s mayor,” KRIK added.

The portal also reported that the “Agency also missed the fact that as the minister of finance Mali gave the green light for Milenijum Tim to be awarded the project of constructing apartments for security service personnel. KRIK recently published the document Mali himself had signed and in which he says he has no objections to one of the most expensive state projects to be awarded to this company.”

In the notice, the Agency claims that the Ministry of Finance, which Mali heads, did not collaborate in any way with Milenijum Tim, saying they are just reporting the Ministry’s own words. The Agency, however, failed to send the Ministry’s memo to that effect to KRIK journalists.
