Norway for You - Serbia

Through a project called Norway for You - Serbia, Norway is supporting 68 entrepreneurs, micro and small enterprises in underdeveloped municipalities in Serbia with over EUR525,000 for enhancing productivity and opening new jobs, an Aug. 13 statement said.

As the result of these activities, at least 70 persons are expected to be hired through the enhancement of existing enterprises' business dealings and the founding of new firms.

The support was approved as part of a public call that has the goal of contributing to balanced social-economic development by increasing the possibilities for employment and boosting social cohesion in underdeveloped areas.

"In the next few years, Norway hopes that Serbian society will progress markedly which is correlated with the priorities of our financial assistance program for Serbia and harmonized with Serbian priorities and the agenda of joining the EU. I would like to especially underline the importance of economic development based on innovation, entrepreneurship, opening new jobs and a predictable framework for the functioning of the market," Norwegian Ambassador to Serbia Jorn  Eugene Gjelstad has said.
