Serbian minister in charge of the country’s EU accession Jadranka Joksimovic, who is also the national IPA coordinator, said on Aug. 5 that the European Union (EU) had approved EUR223.6 million in grants for Serbia for seven projects – two in the transportation sector, two energy projects and one each in the digital and social infrastructure sectors.
The funding has been approved as part of a 6th call for project proposals within the Western Balkans Investment Framework (WBIF), and the total value of the approved projects is EUR885.4 million.
“The projects are designed to boost investment in Serbia and deepen Serbia’s overall trade and economic cooperation with the Western Balkan region and the European Union,” Joksimovic said.
The minister underlined that the comprehensive nature of the approved projects made it clear that their main purpose was to ensure Serbia’s equal regional development, new jobs, better health protection and the achievement of the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans, whose goals Serbia accepted together with the EU.
