Vojvodina Assembly Deputy Speaker Damir Zobenica, a member of the Serbian Progressive Party’s Presidency and vice-president of its Executive Committee, has found himself in the limelight for accusations of instructing party members to cause incidents during blockades of transport routes in protest over a recent tragedy at the Novi Sad railway station, when a concrete roof collapsed and killed 15 people, injuring two more. Due to this, the opposition has called on Zobenica, who is known as the Progressives’ main operative in Vojvodina, to resign.
