Nikola Miric, a convicted criminal who should have been a protected witness for Serbia’s Office of the Prosecutor for Organized Crime, has recently thrust himself into the spotlight with claims related to a massive protest rally held in Belgrade on March 15, 2025, and the use of a sonic weapon against the protesters. Miric, who in April 2026 escaped from a secret location in Belgrade where he had been under police protection, revealed close ties between the criminal underworld and the upper reaches of Serbia’s government.
