Ana Lalic, a journalist of the Nova.rs web portal and a member of the Independent Journalists’ Association of Vojvodina steering committee, was released from custody in the morning of April 2, after being detained overnight for an article on the situation in the Clinical Center of Vojvodina.

Lawyer Srdjan Kovacevic told BETA that the prosecutor had revoked detention measures and that Lalic has been released.

Lalic was taken into custody the night before, on April 1, after the Clinical Center of Vojvodina informed the prosecutor's office and the police that Lalic’s article on lack of basic equipment and the supposed chaotic situation in the center was harmful to its reputation and had disturbed the public.

The journalists’ associations, various NGOs and political parties reacted immediately to Lalic’s arrest and demanded her release.
