Serbian Minister of Defense Aleksandar Vulin announced on May 19 that the army would strengthen its nuclear, chemical and biological defense capabilities and that some solutions which were abandoned and changed for no reason would be reviewed and reinstated.

At the Center for Nuclear, Chemical and Biological Defense with the Training Command Headquarters and the Land Army's 246th nuclear, chemical and biological defense battalion at the Car Lazar barracks in Krusevac Vulin said that the army's Nuclear, Chemical and Biological Defense had demonstrated its worth during efforts to curb the spread of the coronavirus.

"The fight against Covid-19 has shown how important people, training and motivation and how important it is to have the right organization and a unit that is capable of performing all of this ," Vulin was quoted as saying by the Ministry of Defense.
