GIZ Donates Protective, IT Equipment to Municipalities, Cities

The German GIZ international cooperation organization announced on May 26 that a project called The Inclusion of Roma and Other Marginalized Groups in Serbia would help municipalities and cities by securing protective and IT equipment for crisis camps, call centers and other local bodies fighting the spread of the coronavirus in Serbia.

The following 18 cities, city districts and municipalities were handed aid: Apatin, Bac, Belgrade, Kraljevo, Novi Pazar, Pozarevac, Raska, Sombor, Valjevo, Vrsac, Aleksinac, Krusevac, Kragujevac, New Belgrade, Pirot, Subotica, Vranje and Zvezdara.

To protect public health, at the request of Zorana Mihajllovic, the president of the Coordinating Body for Monitoring the Realization of the Strategy for the Social Inclusion of Roma and Roma Women, the German government has decided to help Serbia by donating 1,950 face masks and 78 packages of gloves, while the aid is being realized by the GIZ, a statement said.

"The Serbian government has adopted measures which all of us must abide by and we thank the German government and GIZ for answering the call of the deputy prime minister's office because this donation will mean a lot in further organization of business and the operation of municipalities and crisis camps," Nenad Ivanisevic, the special aide and deputy president of the Coordinating Body for Monitoring the realization of the Strategy for the Social Inclusion of Roma and Roma Women, said.
