Serbian Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Rasim Ljajic said on July 2 that the epidemiological situation in Novi Pazar was encouraging as a rising number of people were reporting to local health centers for checkups, which was not the case before.

He added that one of the two best things that had happened was the opening of covid hospitals. "Practically the entire hospital apart from the surgery and gynecology departments has been turned into a covid hospital," he told state TV. According to him, a large number of physicians were currently in the city and that 13 physicians would arrive in the city on July 2 followed by 12 new doctors with technicians and nurses.

The current situation, he said, was caused by the fact that a huge number of people in a short space of time, who were in the advanced stage with pneumonia had reported to the hospital. "The disease has already entered the hospital and its staff have been decimated, the number of doctors has practically been decimated," he said adding that that was the micro situation that had happened in Italy.

During the past 24 hours three persons have died of coronavirus in Novi Pazar while three more are on ventilators, Mirsad Djerlek, the coordinator of the General Hospital in the city, said on July 2. He said that in the same time another 75 patients had been admitted bringing the total of hospitalized cases to 177.
