Czech Parliament's President of the Chamber of Deputies Radek Vondracek announced on Aug. 31 after meeting with Serbian Speaker Ivica Dacic in Prague that Serbia's admission into the EU was an important strategic question for the Czech Republic.

"Czechia has an enormous interest to welcome Serbia in the EU. This is a strategic question, very important, and everything else is talking nonsense," Vondracek told the press after meeting with Dacic.

The Czech official promised Dacic that he would labor to make Serbia's admission into the EU and cooperation with the Western Balkans one of the priorities of the Czech chairmanship over the EU next year.

Ivica Dacic is on a two-day visit to Prague where he met with Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babis and is scheduled to hold a meeting with Speaker Milos Vystrcil in Czech parliament on Sept. 1. According to announcements by the Czech press he will also meet with Czech President Milos Zeman.
